Science Week 2026: Live lessons & resources inside

Feb 11th 2026

February STEM Roundup

I’ve got a packed update for you this month, covering everything from the upcoming British Science Week to some significant shifts in how we use AI in the classroom.

But first, I have a small favor to ask...

How are you using Generative AI?

I’m currently carrying out a small-scale research project to explore how primary teachers (and student teachers) are using generative AI in their day-to-day teaching, specifically within primary science.

The goal is to move past the headlines and build a real picture of what’s happening in our classrooms. If you have 10 minutes to spare, I’d be incredibly grateful for your input. All responses are completely anonymous.

Science Fix Wins!

I’m absolutely thrilled to share that my book, Science Fix, won the Best Science Textbook category at the Association for Science Education (ASE) Book of the Year 2025 awards!

It was an honor to hear the judging panel's kind words at the conference in January. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the book so far—I'm truly chuffed!

British Science Week 2026: Curiosity!

British Science Week (6th–15th March) is just around the corner. The theme this year is "Curiosity: What’s Your Question?", focusing on putting children in the driver's seat of their own discovery.

To help you plan, I’ve put together a blog post featuring:

  • Live Lessons to stream into your classroom.
  • Practical STEM projects for all primary year groups.

New AI Safety Rules: Does Your School Comply?

The DfE’s new 2026 AI standards have arrived, and they represent a major shift. Instead of just looking at content safety, the focus is now on developmental protection—how prolonged AI interaction affects a child's mind.

Because of these rules, many "standard" AI tools may no longer be compliant for direct use with children. This affects tools used for personalized learning, research aids, and content creation.

Find out if your tools meet the new standards
